Framed Openings

This accessory is used to specify open portions of a wall that are normally used for access. To omit sheets and girts from one or more bays, see Open Walls.

Framed Openings include Jambs, Header or Sill, Trim, and fasteners.

Indicate the opening size, width and height.  Also indicate the opening type, and whether the opening requires a sill. If the opening is at the finished floor, indicate "No". If it is above finished floor, indicate "Yes" and indicate the elevation of the sill.  Use the notes section to specify any framed opening options that you require.

For Location, indicate on which wall the framed opening is located, and how far it is from the LEFT corner of that wall to the left jamb of that opening.

Framed opening types are:

Shop Locate, Sheet Credit: Exact Location is required for all shop located openings. No wall panels or girts will be provided in this area.

Shop Locate, Future: Exact Location is required for all shop located openings. Wall panels will be provided over the area. A removable girt section is provided.

Field Located, at EW: No location will be specified. Wall panels and girts will not be shop cut. Jambs will be provided to the highest possible location on the endwall. Header & Trim will be provided.  Locating an opening will assist Detailing on your order. However, no panels or girts will be shop cut unless "Shop Locate, Sheet Credit" is indicated.

Field Located, at SW: No location will be specified. Wall panels and girts will not be cut. Jambs will be provided sufficient in length to reach the eave strut. Header and Trim will be provided.  Locating an opening will assist Detailing on your order. However, no panels or girts will be shop cut unless "Shop Locate, Sheet Credit" is indicated.

Notes:

  1. No allowance is made for a slab recess on framed openings for overhead doors. The height shown on the screen/purchase order is the actual elevation of the header from finished floor.

  2. Framed openings for standard walk doors should be 4" wider and 2" taller than the door. For example, a framed opening for a 3070 would be 3'-4" x 7'-2".

Framed Opening Options are:

Full Cover Trim provides head and jamb cover trim and sill trim if applicable, so that no red iron is visible at the opening.

Pre-Galvanized indicates that all of the jamb and header or sill material for this framed opening will be manufactured from pre-galvanized material.

The Double Header option will provide a double header, used in the attachment of some roll-up doors. This second header must be field located.

Located in Liner provides liner trim for the inside jamb and header if applicable of the framed opening.
